SHIELD Scale Control delivers Active Armour scale- and corrosion-protection at higher flow rates than cartridge Active Armour. The phosphates in Active Armour bond with hard-water minerals like calcium and magnesium so they can’t form scale, and lay down a protective nanolayer that prevents corrosion of metallic pipes, fixtures and appliances — reducing existing scale without acids or harsh chemicals. It’s a passive conditioner (not a softener) recommended for tankless and tank water heaters, RO units, ice machines, coffee/vending and food-service equipment.
Active Armour Plus models add filtration media: ChlorZorb and a catalytic activator work together to address chlorine, pesticides, herbicides, tastes, odors and disinfection byproducts, with food-grade gravel under-bedding for uniform flow.
